Stephanie Trick, from St. Louis, and Paolo Alderighi, from Italy, play duets on one keyboard. They are internationally popular soloists and decided to experiment with duets (an instant success and now a favorite part of their concerts).
Stephanie is a stride pianist who's favorites are James P. Johnson, Fats Waller, Willie “the Lion” Smith, Albert Ammons, and all the greats. Paolo is a smooth jazz pianist majorly influenced by Earl Hines, Fats Waller, and Erroll Garner. Their duet style is eclectic and amusing.
They met in 2008 in Boswil, Switzerland, at a stride summit. There were six pianists and two grand pianos. All the stride aficionados in Europe flocked to this festival every year. They are married with homes in St. Louis and Milano. Paolo arranged concerts in Europe where they presented a history of jazz piano. They played individually, but the last number was in four hands. That part of the concert was well received, and they had fun doing it. Four hands had not been used much in jazz (and it would be easier to do concerts with one piano than with two).
Rossmoor Management will follow the rules concerning who will be admitted at the entry gate.
If you know Jazz lovers who are not on our list and plan to attend, please respond to with their names.
